Steel Express Couplings
Construction, agriculture and industry often require pipes carrying water, air or other fluids to be connected and disconnected quickly. Express couplings, also known as Geka-type or claw couplings, make these connections without tools. FAIT offers a selection of steel Express couplings.

What Express couplings are and how they work
Express couplings are a quick-connect system made of two parts that join with a push and approximately a quarter-turn (90°). The claws or lugs on each coupling interlock when the two parts are pressed together and turned, compressing an internal rubber gasket that makes the connection watertight. The standardised distance between the claws, commonly 40 mm for the most common sizes, allows male, female, hose-tail or cap fittings with the same spacing to be connected.
Benefits
• Fast connection: connect and disconnect in seconds. • Easy to use: no special tools are needed. • Secure connection: engaged claws provide a firm hold. • Reliable seal: the internal gasket prevents leaks when it is intact and suitable for the fluid. • Robustness: steel models resist wear and impact. • Interchangeability: fittings with the same claw spacing are compatible regardless of end type. • Versatility: they suit a range of low- and medium-pressure fluids, including water, compressed air and non-corrosive liquids.
Types of Express couplings
FAIT offers galvanised-steel couplings for mechanical strength and corrosion protection. Male-threaded steel Express coupling: Express claws at one end and an external thread at the other. It connects a flexible hose, using an Express hose-tail coupling, to a female-threaded outlet on machinery, a pump, tap or rigid pipe. Hose-tail steel Express coupling: Express claws at one end and a grooved hose tail at the other. A flexible hose fits directly over the tail and is secured with a hose clamp; this type is often used for extensions or to connect hoses to pumps. The range also includes female-threaded versions, blanking caps, Y and T fittings, and brass or stainless-steel versions for specific applications.
Applications
Express quick couplings are used in agriculture and gardening for irrigation systems, pumps and spray lances; construction and worksites for temporary water supply, drainage and compressed-air lines for pneumatic tools; industry for process-fluid transfer, cooling and washing systems; municipal services and Civil Protection for pumps, pressure washers and street cleaning; marine and port activities for loading and unloading water or other fluids; and advanced hobby applications.
Who they are for
Professional farmers and gardeners; construction companies, bricklayers and site workers; plumbers and installers; industrial maintenance technicians; car-wash operators and cleaning companies; and anyone who needs fast, secure and reliable connections for flexible hoses.
How to choose and use Express couplings
Diameter: choose the fitting to match the hose or thread. Material: galvanised steel is a robust general-purpose choice; consider other materials for specific fluids. Gasket: check its condition regularly, replace it if worn, and ensure the material, usually NBR, is compatible with the fluid. Securing: always use a good-quality hose clamp on hose-tail fittings. Pressure: follow the operating-pressure limits specified for the fitting used.
